Senior Java / Oracle Architect – Embedded Systems & Agentic AI

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Java Engineer / Oracle Architect to join our team on a remote contract basis. This is a hands-on architecture and engineering role for someone who can work across Java, Oracle, embedded systems, and modern AI technologies, with the ability to design and develop complex, mission-critical systems.

Experience working in aerospace, defense, aviation, or other highly regulated/mission-critical environments is highly preferred.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong architectural skills, and experience applying Agentic AI and LLM technologies to enterprise or embedded applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex, scalable applications using Java and Oracle technologies
• Serve as a senior technical architect and hands-on engineer across application, database, and embedded environments
• Architect and optimize Oracle databases, data models, SQL, PL/SQL, and database integrations
• Develop and integrate software for embedded and/or edge computing environments
• Design and implement Agentic AI solutions, including AI agents, LLM integrations, tool calling, orchestration, and automated workflows
• Evaluate and integrate emerging AI technologies into existing enterprise and embedded systems
• Develop RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed applications
• Work with cross-functional engineering teams to define technical architecture and system interfaces
• Troubleshoot complex performance, integration, and production issues
• Establish coding, architecture, security, testing, and deployment standards
• Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience in Java
• Must have business level English speaking skills to interface with clients
• Advanced experience with Java/J2EE and enterprise application development
• Strong Oracle expertise, including database architecture, SQL, PL/SQL, performance tuning, and data modeling
• Experience designing and implementing complex software architectures
• Experience with embedded systems, edge computing, or hardware/software integration
• Hands-on Experience with Agentic AI architectures and AI agents
• Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies, testing, version control, and CI/CD
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote contract environment
• Preferred Aerospace, aviation, defense, or other mission-critical systems experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
